Frequently Asked Questions Why are your training courses restricted to professionals only? We know that professionals such as Independent Domestic Violence Advisers or outreach workers are often the first people women go to for advice and support. The aim of our training courses is to increase their awareness and understanding of women’s legal rights to enable them to support the women they work with. At a time when we know demand for our advice lines is so high, this is an important way in which we can extend the reach of our work. It is difficult to deliver training courses which meet the needs of individual women. The issues that are affecting you might be very different from those of other women. Our trainers are not able to give individual legal advice. For information about the law and your legal rights please call our telephone advice lines or read our legal information. Why can’t I come on your training? Our training is primarily aimed at professionals working in the Violence against Women and Girls sector and other sectors who provide services for women. We sometimes have to impose eligibility criteria for our courses, usually in order to meet the requirements of funders. Some of our courses are women only, providing a space for women to meet and learn together. Find out more about our commitment to providing women only services here. I’ve sent you my application form: am I guaranteed a place on the course? No. Our courses fill very quickly and are often over-subscribed. We will contact you as soon as possible to confirm whether you have a place. How much does your training cost? Open training: varied – please see details of individual courses In-house training: please enquire by emailing: [email protected] Can I send a substitute?
