To ensure fairness and diverse representation, we limit the number of participants from each organisation. The series will re-run in upcoming quarters.

Eligibility Criteria:
We offer places to non-legal professionals in England and Wales who work on violence against women and girls (VAWG) issues, from the community, voluntary, and statutory sectors. This includes refuge workers, IDVAs, ISVAs, social workers, housing officers, and outreach workers and health professionals. It is also open to Commissioners and Local Authority Officers responsible for commissioning violence against women services.

Please note, this course is for non-legal professionals only.

Victims of domestic abuse with pre-settled status as family

Date: 20 May 2025 | Time: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Format: Online via Zoom | Cost: Free

Please note: This is a content-heavy session covering a lot of ground in a short time.

This is the third course in our Immigration law for migrant victims of domestic abuse series.

Migrant victim / survivors who have pre-settled status based on their relationship with an EU citizen under the EU Settlement Scheme do not need to change their immigration status on relationship breakdown. They benefit from legal protections under the EU Settlement Scheme and many qualify for welfare benefits and social housing. Government changes on 4 April 2024 offer this group access to the MVDAC and the route for settlement as a victim of domestic abuse. This course explores the unique considerations that apply to people with pre-settled status and why the MVDAC / settlement route option has hidden risks for them. It will include:

  • applying for settlement as a victim of domestic abuse under the EU Settlement Scheme
  • the risks and benefits of switching into the MVDAC / settlement as a victim of domestic abuse route

Please review the eligibility criteria before proceeding.
