This 1 hour session offers a mini-training, Q&A and peer discussion on the criminal law elements of the Domestic Abuse Act 2021.

We will cover topics such as:

  • The definition of domestic abuse
  • Special measures
  • Extension of coercive and controlling behaviour
  • Domestic Abuse Protection Notices/Orders

These one-hour sessions are short and focused, designed to highlight specific legal changes in a particular area of law (in this case, criminal law) followed by time for you to ask your own questions of our legal experts.

Participants are invited to send any questions in advance to [email protected]. Suggested topics include the definition of domestic abuse, prohibition of direct cross-examination, special measures and DAPOs.

 

 

Who Can Attend / Eligibility Criteria

This opportunity is solely for professionals from voluntary of community sector organisations only working  in London  on violence against women and girls issues.  A separate session for Local Authority staff/Borough Officers was delivered in August 2025.
