Course Overview

This introductory online session provides an overview of key protective orders available through the family courts: non-molestation orders, occupation orders, and domestic abuse protection orders (DAPOs). It is suitable for non-legal professionals who support survivors of domestic abuse.

Learners will gain an understanding of:

• The legal framework for non-molestation and occupation orders

• The latest developments in domestic abuse protection orders, including how and where DAPOs are currently being piloted

• An overview of the application process for each type of order

• Practical strategies to prepare for court hearings

• How protective orders can be enforced

Eligibility Criteria – who can attend?

Non-legal professionals in England and Wales who work on violence against women and girls (VAWG) issues from the community, voluntary, and statutory sectors.

This includes refuge workers, IDVAs, ISVAs, social workers, housing officers, and outreach workers and health professionals. It is also open to Commissioners and Local Authority Officers responsible for commissioning violence against women services.

Please note: this training is not open to members of the general public.
