Preventative Culture for Sexual Harassment – The Worker Protection Act 2023 Compliance –  for Employers and Senior Leadership

Format & Duration

  • Delivery: Online
  • Duration: 5 hours, including a lunch break and two short breaks
  • Alternative Format: Can also be delivered over two days as two 2.5-hour sessions (including breaks)

Overview

This course has been developed to ensure employers and senior leadership comply with their new mandatory positive duty to prevent sexual harassment of employees under the Worker Protection Act 2023, from October 2024. The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) recommends that employers seek training to ensure compliance with the duty to prevent sexual harassment.

Course Description

The course provides a clear explanation of key aspects of the law for developing the steps all employers must now take to implement preventative measures for sexual harassment of employees, including from third parties. It outlines your new legal obligations as employers and the potential for enforcement action by the EHRC for breaches of the duty.  This is delivered in the wider context of Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) more broadly and from a trauma-informed approach to provide strategies for how Senior Leadership can foster a culture of prevention of sexual harassment.

In addition, the course is designed to equip employers with the knowledge and understanding needed to devise effective preventative measures for their industry and work environment. Through interactive exercises and case study work, we explore best practices for adopting a ‘risk-based’ approach and introduce tools for developing an organisational action plan to implement preventative step. Group work supports participants in shaping a tailored organisational response for embedding a culture of prevention and addressing the underlying drivers of sexual harassment in the workplace.
