Reflecting on 50 years of defending women’s rights

Our 50th anniversary report focuses on legal and policy developments addressing Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG), including key cases and reforms that Rights of Women has contributed to through our advice, training and advocacy work.

We are delighted to mark 50 years of Rights of Women with the publication of our 50th Anniversary Report.

The report analyses the progress and challenges in relation to women’s access to justice in England and Wales over the past decade, since our 40th anniversary.

This important reflection captures the progress made, the barriers that remain and the calls to action that will shape our strategic priorities for the coming years. It is both a record of achievement and a platform for renewed commitment to ensuring every woman can access justice, safety and equality before the law.

The report was launched at our 50th Anniversary celebratory event on Monday, 17 November 2025.
