We provide a range of unique events for professionals working with women including training courses, seminars, workshops and conferences.

We aim to provide professionals with a practical understanding of the legal rights and remedies available to the women they work with. In this way we can pass on more knowledge and information to the women who need it.

Our courses are unique, practical and interactive; a mix of presentations, case studies and activities, to accommodate different learning styles. A full course pack, including practical support materials, will be provided for each participant to ensure you get the most out of the training and enhance your knowledge and skills. Our specialist trainers aim to make complex areas of the law clear, accessible and user-friendly.

About our trainers 

Our trainers are experienced, specialist women solicitors or barristers with expertise in family, criminal and or immigration and asylum law. Our trainers write our legal publications, advise on our legal advice lines and participate in policy and campaigning on women’s rights issues.

Accessibility

We aim to make our training courses and events accessible to all.

The majority of our training courses and seminars are provided online and can be accessed remotely. 

We choose accessible venues for all our events. If you have any specific access needs or dietary requirements you can tell us in advance and we will endeavour to meet these.

Last week I visited a local refuge where my client and her children enjoyed a meal together and then played a board game. 

This family have been known to agencies for over two years, it is one of those “too difficult to deal with” cases and in that time they have been moved out of the area, let down, set up to fail and left with no choice but to return to the perpetrator.

Because of my Rights of Women training, I successfully presented a support plan to agencies and refuge funding was secured through Children’s Services. They have a long way to go but they are safer and happier than they have been for a long time.

Over the years Rights of Women training has increased my knowledge and confidence as a practitioner and provided me with resources that support women experiencing gender based violence to understand the remedies available to increase their safety.

Independent Domestic Violence Advocate

I am now much more confident in the information I can give my clients. The course taught me very practical tips which will help me to give women information about their options and help them make decisions. For example, I learnt that if a woman applies for the Destitute Domestic Violence Concession her immigration status changes, so I will be able to talk to her about the pros and cons. The women I work with experience problems because of a language barrier and cannot access other advice services. I am now able to give them the information they need in their own language. The course also gave me practical tools which will enable me to help women by preparing a letter in support of their application for indefinite leave to remain under the domestic violence rule.

VAWG Outreach and Prevention Coordinator
